Stripes

They are in every high street store and on every catwalk at the minute. So why not join in and buy yourself something striped this month.

Forget what you've heard about horizontal stripes because this month they are the way forward. As long as they are bright and happy colours it will look great and work well all summer.

Everyone can get in on this trend because you can wear stripes so many different ways.

Flirty and fun for the girly girls amongst you...

This summer's biggest trend

Get in early on my favourite trend for this summer- Block colours.
This is going to be huge in the next couple of months and we are already seeing it on the catwalk.

These are the three best colours in my opinion.

Blue: it's going to be huge this season. Make sure you wear yours bright and bold.
Work it into any outfit with small touches but by the end of the summer I expect everyone to have a block of blue in their wardrobe!
Stay cool this summer in Topshop's blue bandage dress.

Tangerine: it works well with a tan, so if you dare to wear this colour make sure you've got one first. Be brave and try it out. Or for the shier readers among you, start small with orange accessories and a simple white dress before working your way up to contrasting with pinks and blues.

This is another Topshop dress, they are really working the block colour trend!

White: this colour is everywhere already! H&M have a great line of block white items to help you along your way. This colour should be worn so white it blinds people!

Topshop! Feel and look great in this summers trends

Let me know how you work my favourite trend of the season.

Style icons

Where do trends come from? Is it from the big design houses like Chanel? Is it high street shops like Topshop? Or is it from those select few who have a talent for putting together an outfit and looking good all the time?

The Onassis-Bruni Effect
Jackie O
My money is on the latter. People like Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. People with timeless style. The trends of these icons are always coming back into fashion and they have truly made their mark on history.

But what about today? Who do we class as style icons in 2011?

Victoria Beckham has certainly strived for first place with her sleek look. Always smart and well put together, even when pregnant! She has the perfect accessories for every outfit and at the Royal wedding she joined forces with Louboutin to create a custom pair of heels. The former Spice Girl has come a long way from a LBD days with the band and she now has her own clothing label which all the celebrities love.

Kate Moss is still a huge trendsetter for many. Her rock chic look has all the festival-goers dying to see what she is wearing each year. Her laidback, effortless look makes her a huge candidate for biggest style icon. The model, who is the face of Revlon can make any style work for her but she always looks best when she isn't even trying.

Whitney Port Back Home in
Whitney Port
Whitney Port is one of the hottest trendsetters of the past few years. Since launching her clothing line Whitney Eve she has gone from strength to strength featuring in magazines almost every week. Her girly rock chic look works well for so many people and so they can identify with her. Her mix of smart and effortless shows off her talent for creating new styles and I personally can't wait to see more from her.

That Seventies look

A huge trend we are seeing everywhere at the minute is a revival of the Seventies. Love it or hate it you cannot deny that it is coming back with a bang!

So, how do you wear it?

You can start with the daytime looks. Flares will work well for this as will denim dresses and pretty much anything else made of denim! You should pair these with bold, paisley prints or geometric prints on top. The classic shoe for this trend is of course the wedge but if like me you're not a fan of this shoe, then as long as you stick to browns it will work. To accessorise your look go for chunky wooden bangles and big feather earrings.

For the night you can get a bit more glam with deep jewel colour. Add some sequins and you're good to go. Platforms are definately a yes, the bigger the better, although it is advisable to make sure you can walk in them!

The best deals in the high street

imgres.jpgEveryone likes a good bargain, so here are the best deals to keep you looking good without spending a fortune.

Of course there is always Primark, or as the Fashion Spot prefers to call it: Primarni. The not-so-designer shop is great for simple tops at a price that won't break the bank. In recent years the chain have also branched out and began creating cheaper, more fashionable looks which has kept it a favourite among high street shoppers.

Candy Pink (Pink) Type Slogan T-Shirt | 225138271 | New Look
One of 35 t-shirts available in the offer

New Look always have deals and offers on to make sure they stay a favourite. They cater especially to students who get a discount (usually 10% but at the moment it's 20%) and every so often they will have a promotion offering money off to everyone.

Right now New Look are offering customers the chance to save money by buying in bulk. Most of their offers this week include two for the price of.

For example cropped cardies are two for £18 and printed t-shirts are two for £12 so whether you're a 'girlie' girl or a bit of a rock chic New Look are offering you something.

Black superskinny jeans
£15 jeans great for a night out
with a pair of killer heels.

For more great deals try Dorothy Perkins. I think DP offer more to an older customer as well whereas New Look is more focussed at 13-25. At DP the age seems to range from 20-40 which is good because it means that everyone is being catered for.

Like New Look they are offering 20% off to students but they also offer the two for the price of deal on selected clothes. The best offer out of this is two £15 jeans for £25 because everyone needs a couple good pairs of jeans-a pair for the day and a pair for the night.

Topshop is a huge favourite of mine but they do tend to be quite expensive. Again students are afforded the luxury of 10% off but what about everyone else? Unfotunately the only deals seem to come from their sales, which means you're buying last seasons clothes. Not the best thing when we have been enjoying such good weather! So while they offer you some gorgeous clothes and accessories, if you're trying to save moeny it is probably not the place to go.

If you know of anymore great places to shop let me know and I'll make sure to post them on here.

It's Alexander McQueen!

Kate entering the Abbey, with sister Pippa holding the train

Kate's sister-the maid of honour, is in a long fitted white dress, simple and beautiful. Against the norm and very surprising, normally it's just the bride who wears white! The younger bridesmaids and flower girls are also in white with a dusty pink sash at the waist. Very Cute.

The kiss on the balcony

Kate's dress is definately very lacy. It looks stunning on her. The lace on top covers her arms and shoulders but is still transparent. Underneath is a strapless dress made of ivory and white stain. It is fitted on top and very structred showing off her fabulous figure. It falls down and ends in train which is almost three metres long.

The queens tiara hold her veil in place.

Fashion statements at the Royal wedding

David and Victoria arriving at the ceremony
Pregnant Victoria Beckham turned up in one of her own designs looking stylish as always. The plain sheath dress in royal blue is simple and classic. The matching colour of her Philip Treacy hat and custom made Louboutins worked well. However, I personally think that she kept it a little too simple.

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson is also in head-to-toe blue although not the same shade as Victoria. The electric blue outfit certainly turns heads but perhaps for the wrong reasons. The dress shows off her slender figure but  does little else to flatter her.

Samantha Cameron is wearing Burberry- very patriotic of her, as it is one of the most successful Britsih design houses. Unlike most at the wedding, she turned up without a hat! But I think she made it work with jewels in her hair instead.

The Royal wedding

Is everybody watching the wedding?

I'm waiting to see the dress, it's unbelievable that they managed to keep it a secret right up until the day. Very impressive! But the suspense is killing me!

Alexander McQueen
Which designer do you think Kate chose?

The rumours are Alexander McQueen but other names being mentioned are Alice Temperley and Sophie Cranston.

All will be revealed in less than an hour!
